Sanne Roemen - Door mijn filters - Editie #148

JIM: Jouw Ingebrachte Mentor.

Menselijke computers? Powervrouwen in ruimtevaart!

Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land between the stars.

Meet the Mighty Women of NASA's New Astronaut Class | A Mighty Girl

The astronaut candidates have two years of training in front of them before they're ready to break Earth's atmosphere, but in the meantime, space-loving Mighty Girls have five new role models to look up to! In this blog post, we introduce you to these five remarkably talented women. And, to inspire children who dream of their own careers in space, at the end of the post, we've showcased a variety of girl-empowering books and toys about shooting for the stars!

Vrije wil?

Of all the age-old questions of philosophy, the problem of free will might be most likely to result in existential angst. In this video from Wi-Phi or Wireless Philosophy, the English philosopher Richard Holton, formerly of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and now at the University of Cambridge, outlines the two problems often used to argue that free will doesn't exist. The first says that, if the laws of physics are fixed, all our choices must be predetermined. The second holds that, with enough computing power and knowledge about how the Universe works, someone could theoretically peer into the future to see the predestined outcomes of our lives – which would also mean we're not free. However, using a clever thought experiment, Holton demonstrates how the second conclusion doesn’t necessarily follow from the first. That is, our ‘books of life’ can never truly be foreknown, except by a thinker who exists entirely outside physics itself.

Blendle-aars: lees! Niet-blendle-aars: kijk!

Zondagochtend, pyama, bank, kopje koffie.

The genius of Kondo’s approach is that she cares not at all about renovation or decor. Her clients’ homes might be stylish or drab, spacious or cramped, but she treats them all the same: Every newly tidied room gets the same gasp of delight that signals Kondo’s pride in the family’s accomplishments.

11 jarige drag queen?

Vanaf nu vraag ik me dan af "what would Desmond do?".

So, why is Desmond AMAZING?

So, why is Desmond AMAZING?

Desmond was born in June 2007, during NYC Pride Week, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan. As he tells it, this means that he “is a member of the Village People by default”. He has also claimed that he “came out of the closet when he was born”.  Desmond has a loving family and lives in New York City with his father, mother, and many pets. He also has an older sister. Desmond’s nickname at home is Desi.

Leisure

What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this is if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.
